Mechanical Engineer Intern
About The Position
SAIC is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2026 to support various torpedo test equipment modernization and development efforts. This internship provides an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects and gain hands-on experience in the field. This position will be located on site at our Middletown, RI office. Requirements
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering with one year or more of college coursework completed
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, which is reflective of all college coursework
- Experience using CAD software for the development of 3D models and 2D drawings
- SolidWorks is the in-house CAD platform used
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Have a passion for a career in technology
- U.S. Citizen
Responsibilities
- Contribute individually and/or as a team member to support our customer’s unique mission needs
- Work with key stakeholders to accomplish goals and objectives to support SAIC’s project/program portfolio
- Build awareness and experience of key capability skills in support of SAIC business efforts
- Conduct data and process analysis to support development of key solutions
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions in these technical fields
