About The Position

We are seeking Mechanical Design Engineers (Level I and II) to join our team in Simi Valley, CA to support the design of custom automation systems and tooling. In this role, you will contribute to projects ranging from small R&D efforts to full-scale production equipment. Working alongside senior engineers, you'll help translate customer requirements into detailed design specifications and provide mechanical design support across multiple active projects. Because our systems are multidisciplinary, you'll collaborate with engineers across various specialties to deliver integrated, high-performance automation solutions. Requirements

  • Experience sizing and specifying actuators, sensors, vision systems, and other automation components
  • Demonstrated ability in automation and/or machine design
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and tolerances
  • Exposure to GD&T (Y14.5M-2009)
  • Basic knowledge of materials and fabrication processes (machining, welding, etc.)
  • Familiarity with controls and software concepts
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Proven experience in automation and/or machine or mechanism design
  • Experience with pneumatic systems and components
  • BS or higher in an engineering discipline
  • 3+ years in a mechanical design role within industrial automation or machine building
  • Knowledge of CE, NFPA 79, and SEMI S8 compliance standards
  • Experience designing tooling and fixtures
  • Experience troubleshooting automated equipment

Responsibilities

  • Design systems, mechanisms, and components for custom automated machinery and tooling
  • Integrate off-the-shelf and custom robotics, actuators, sensors, and vision systems
  • Manage design tasks to meet project budgets and schedules; coordinate progress with project stakeholders
  • Create, review, and approve CAD models and engineering drawings
  • Provide technical mentorship to other Mechanical Design Engineers
  • Build, evaluate, and iterate on prototype assemblies
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on controls, software, and system integration
  • Work with and manage external suppliers and vendors
  • Partner with customers to clarify requirements and align on project deliverables
  • Support equipment installation and commissioning at customer sites as needed
