We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanic III to join our dynamic team in a new state of the art facility. In this position, you will not only be responsible for diagnosing and repairing vehicles, but you will also have the opportunity to collaborate and share knowledge with team members. Purpose of the position: The purpose of this position is to be responsible for performing mechanical work to repair, maintain, and rebuild gasoline and alternative fueled automotive equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, and a minimum of four (4) years of progressive experience in the repair of gasoline and alternatively fueled automobiles, trucks, and heavy equipment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Completion of Safety Training post hire.
  • Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license
  • North Carolina Inspection License
  • May require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III or Universal technicians as required by 40 CFR part 82, subpart F.

  • Knowledge of internal combustion engine operating principles.
  • Expertise in adjusting and repairing automotive electrical wiring and generating systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair malfunctioning automotive equipment.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding repair manuals.
  • Physical strength and agility to move heavy objects and perform manual labor for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of electronic diagnostic techniques.
  • Proficiency in computer usage.
  • Familiarity with testing devices, machines, and hand tools used in mechanical repair.
  • Skilled in using machine and hand tools.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize work to produce quality results within deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain County vehicles in good working order including automobiles, trucks, ambulances and other vehicles; ensures vehicles are safe and in good working order.
  • Perform diagnostics on vehicles brought in for services; perform general and deferred maintenance on assigned vehicles as per scheduler.
  • Perform vehicle inspections as needed by North Carolina state licensing.
  • Applies knowledge of safety procedures when operating tools and working with machinery and moving mechanical parts.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
