(Role: Non-Exempt) JOB FUNCTION: Services vehicles and equipment maintained by the Automotive Division. Performs unskilled and semi-skilled work under direct or indirect supervision. Assists personnel of higher classifications as directed

Requirements

  • Automotive experience preferred.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish the difference between colors, including shades, hues, and tints. (for electrician related positions).
  • Must be able to obtain a Medical Examiners Certificate.
  • Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii Commercial Driver’s License. Must meet the requirement for frequent required drivers as stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Company Drivers policy.
  • Must be able to lift and carry automotive parts, tools, and/or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must pass the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Construction & Skilled Trades Selection System (CAST) test.
  • Note: Employees who have taken and passed the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) do not need to take the CAST.
  • Must pass Job Proficiency Test.

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Removes and replaces automotive components and/or accessories which require no technical adjustments or settings
  • Performs preventive maintenance services such as oil change, grease job, etc., on all vehicles and equipment maintained by the Automotive Division.
  • Performs visual maintenance inspections on vehicles and equipment reporting defective conditions to the foreman.
  • Submits necessary information and reports.
  • Drives vehicles and equipment.
  • Uses power driven and hand tools of the trade.
  • Assists Service Station Attendant when necessary.
  • Performs similar and incidental duties as required
  • Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.
