About The Position

Join us as a Meat Associate and support the preparation, display, and rotation of fresh products while maintaining top-tier standards for food safety, cleanliness, and customer service. WHAT YOU’LL DO Produce house-made recipes including burger blends, sausage, hot wings, carne asada, and smoked meats. Ensure proper transferring, cooling, labeling, dating, and storing of meat items while maintaining correct product rotation. Maintain proper temperatures during all phases of meat and seafood preparation, display, and storage. Stock and rotate meat and seafood products in coolers, freezers, and retail cases to ensure freshness and compliance. Prevent the sale of spoiled or outdated products by following company policies on weighing, labeling, date-checking, and product pulling. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all work areas, equipment, cutting rooms, Grab & Go cases, and full-service cases. Break down and clean saws, grinders, tenderizers, cases, and other equipment safely and thoroughly. Ensure display cases, coolers, and storage areas meet Health Department and Co-op standards for cleanliness, organization, and proper stocking. Complete temperature checks and quality control logs in accordance with company and regulatory standards. Provide courteous, knowledgeable service to customers by answering questions and supporting a positive shopping experience WHAT YOU BRING Professionalism, neutrality, and calmness under pressure with strong attention to detail. Excellent customer service skills paired with a friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor. Working knowledge of meat products, including cuts, perishability, and proper storage techniques. Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation practices, and compliance with state and Health Department regulations. Ability to use knives and cutting tools safely and effectively while following all safety protocols. Basic math skills for calculating weights, measures, and pricing accurately. Ability to use cleaning chemicals safely per SDS and manufacturer guidelines. Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on department needs. EXPERIENCE Previous meat department experience preferred but not required. Valid Food Handler’s Certificate required shortly after hire date. Food service experience PHYSICAL DEMANDS This role requires the ability to work in a cold production environment with prolonged standing and frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and twisting. You must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs., use knives and equipment requiring repetitive hand movements and fine coordination, and communicate clearly with customers and staff. The position also requires climbing step stools or ladders, repetitive arm and hand motions, and reaching above the shoulders or horizontally while stocking or retrieving products. Proper PPE—including gloves, aprons, and cut-resistant equipment—must be used as required. WORKING ENVIRONMENT Work is performed primarily in refrigerated prep areas and a busy retail environment with frequent interruptions, customer interaction, and a strong focus on food safety, teamwork, and efficiency.
