About The Position

This position is for a Math Teacher at Cannon County High School. The role requires a valid Tennessee teaching license with appropriate endorsements, meeting ESSA requirements, strong communication skills, and meeting health and physical requirements. The primary goal is to ensure all students, including subgroups, are introduced to, challenged to develop, and master appropriate grade-level academic skills as outlined in state curriculum standards. Cannon County High School Teachers are in daily contact with other teachers, students, administration, the general public, and other work-related personnel. The ability to handle complaints, express a service-oriented attitude, communicate effectively with others, and work with limited supervision is vital. The position also requires adherence to the Tennessee Teacher Code of Ethics, which emphasizes the importance of pursuing truth, devotion to excellence, nurturing democratic principles, protecting freedom to learn and teach, guaranteeing equal educational opportunity, and maintaining the highest ethical standards in professional service, particularly in obligations to students and the education profession.

Requirements

  • Have a Valid Tennessee teaching license with appropriate endorsement(s)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare lesson plans for the principal’s careful and thorough review, which are correlated to the most current state curriculum standards and effectively use the lesson plans
  • Use appropriate grade level, data-driven, research-based teaching strategies to teach the appropriate curriculum standards to all student and subgroups of students
  • Analyze the most recent, appropriate, formal state assessment results (including Value-Added and TVAAS Teacher Effect, when applicable) as well as the latest system and school-level Report Card, studying identified strengths and weaknesses, then make appropriate adjustments in the classroom
  • Serve as a positive and active participant in the Professional Learning Community (at the school level and system level, when applicable)
  • Assess frequently students’ comprehension and application of expected curriculum standards
  • Take responsibility for all students’ mastery of applicable curriculum standards and significant academic growth
  • Instruct students in subject matter, using various teaching methods, such as lecture and demonstration, and use audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations
  • Prepare teaching outline for the course of study, assigns lessons and correct homework papers
  • Administer tests to evaluate students’ progress, records results, and issue reports to inform parents of student’s progress
  • Keep accurate attendance records
  • Maintain discipline in the classroom and in schoolyard
  • Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops
  • Encourage students to maintain standards of classroom behavior
  • Prepare for classes and show evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor
  • Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when requested to do so
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, board policies, and administrative regulations
  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
  • Represent the school and the community in a positive manner
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, and Director of Schools.
