About The Position

Polymer Concepts Technologies PBY, Inc. KRS Division dba Kaydon Ring & Seal (“KRS”) is responsible for Aerospace and Industrial applications. KRS has a customer portfolio that includes all major players in the Aerospace and Industrial industries. Our business is fully customer focused, with products specifically designed for an engine/airframe application and then produced in small quantities and small lots on highly flexible equipment. Extreme product range fragmentation, complex product design, very high-quality standards and traceability requirements are the peculiarity of KRS. Responsibilities: The Materials Lab Technician will be primarily responsible for performing tests and experiments to support the determination of conformance of materials and processes to customer and general specifications. This will include but not be limited to: Material Element Analysis – Perform analysis of metal chemistry using various methods including combustion (carbon and sulphur analysis) and spectrometry. Maintain accurate analysis records. Hardness Testing – Perform routine analysis using Rockwell, Superficial, and microhardness machines for analysis of material mechanical properties. Maintain an accurate analysis records. Wet Lab Analysis – Perform analysis including cleanliness tests, coating weights, passivation, specific gravity, and viscosity of internal and external processes and materials. Maintain logs for all process testing. Utilize acceptance criteria to disposition results. Metallography – Prepare mounts of materials for analysis including microhardness, metallography and coating thickness. Powder Analysis – Determine densities, filler materials, particle size, and flow analysis of a variety of powders. Experimental Tests – Implement such tests as may be devised by management to determine root cause of process failures, material non-conformances and any longer-term suitability of materials to applications. Follow all Company safety and quality policies and protocols. Ensure work area(s) are kept orderly and follow 5S standards. Other projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Associate degree in chemistry, material science or related discipline or two years of laboratory experience and High School Diploma or GED.
  • Able to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Detail orientated with the ability to identify and solve issues.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced, complex environment with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Individual needs to possess a positive attitude, be flexible and have an ability to work well under pressure.
