About The Position

SUPERVISOR, MATERIALS LAB We are looking for a motivated, passionate, eager, and tenacious supervisor to manage a team of technicians and specialists within our Materials Engineering labs. This supervisor will be directly responsible for owning the thermal and characterization areas within our lab. They will review incoming work, triage, provide training and growth opportunities for the team, identify and drive improvements that impact quality, safety, and efficiency, and much more.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in a materials lab environment.
  • 1+ years of experience leading a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with thermal and characterization testing techniques.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field.
  • Able to adapt to constantly changing work assignments and fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with engineering and production.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise shop floor activity, including daily schedules and workflow.
  • Lead and manage a staff of technicians and specialists in the thermal and characterization areas, including all performance management related tasks.
  • Coordinate with engineering and other departments to ensure appropriate prioritization of work orders to satisfy companywide production and R&D priorities.
  • Review work instructions and make change recommendations when needed.
  • Identify training needs and develop training programs.
  • Monitor labor hours and overtime and implement improvement plans and time management with staff.
  • Define equipment maintenance plans and coordinate directly with supporting teams and vendors to address broken/aging equipment.
  • Accomplish production results by communicating job expectations: planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Develop and implement efficiency improvement measures.
  • Champion efforts that improve safety, quality, cost, and efficiency.
