About The Position

The Materials Supervisor is responsible for owning day-to-day materials execution across inventory, warehouse operations, and shipping/receiving for two manufacturing facilities. This role will lead a team of materials personnel while helping design, standardize, and scale material flow processes to support continued growth. This position is ideal for a hands-on leader who enjoys building structure, improving processes, and using data to drive better decisions — especially in an environment transitioning from manual tools (Google Sheets) to a formal ERP system. The Materials Supervisor will play a critical role in shaping how materials operations scale as LayerZero continues to grow. The right candidate will have the opportunity to leave a lasting operational footprint and grow alongside the organization.

  • Ability to lead through change in a growing, evolving organization

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience leading hourly or frontline teams
  • Experience in high-mix or engineered-to-order manufacturing environments
  • Exposure to ERP implementations or system transitions
  • Lean or continuous improvement experience

Responsibilities

  • Own the performance, engagement, and development of the materials team across both facilities
  • Set clear expectations, coach daily performance, and address issues proactively
  • Build bench strength through training, cross-training, and standard work
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and safety
  • Oversee stockroom, supermarket, material handling, and shipping/receiving activities
  • Ensure materials are available to support production schedules and customer commitments
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through disciplined processes and routine audits
  • Coordinate closely with Production, Planning, Procurement, and Engineering
  • Develop, document, and maintain standard work for all materials processes
  • Implement visual management and operating rhythms to ensure process adherence

  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for shortages, discrepancies, and delays
  • Track and analyze key operational indicators using available tools (primarily Google Sheets initially)
  • Use data to identify trends, prioritize improvement opportunities, and support decisions
  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives using lean concepts (Kanban, supermarkets, 5S, etc.)
  • Serve as a key participant in ERP preparation, testing, and go-live activities
  • Help translate current-state processes into future-state system workflows
  • Support team training and adoption during the ERP transition

Benefits

  • Competitive pay with performance incentives
  • 100% company-paid medical, dental, and vision
  • 401(k) with company match
