Materials Coordinator

About The Position

The Materials Coordinator ensures the efficient, accurate, and timely flow of materials throughout the Parma Metal Center. This role supports production by coordinating inventory, supplier communication, material movement, receiving processes, and continuous improvement initiatives. The coordinator is responsible for maintaining accurate records, supporting internal controls, and helping ensure uninterrupted material flow to the stamping and assembly operations.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, materials, or supply chain operations.
  • Working knowledge of material flow processes, inventory management, and logistics coordination.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams, suppliers, and plant personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all necessary data and information is available for flawless material flow throughout the plant.
  • Coordinate daily material flow and support production teams with accurate part availability.
  • Monitor and audit pull systems, receiving processes, and internal material movement to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, logistics partners, and internal teams to resolve material issues and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Investigate premium freight events, carrier claims, and material discrepancies; prepare documentation for resolution.
  • Manage material buffers, source changes, and supplier non-conformances with appropriate follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate plant material records including gains, losses, and error investigations.
  • Analyze part history for misuse, specification issues, unaccounted scrap, or loss prevention opportunities.
  • Support SPPS issuance (Supplier Problem Processing System) and track supplier responses.
  • Communicate receiving requirements and processes with unloading/receiving teams to support efficient dock operations.
  • Assist material supervisors and stockroom personnel with daily tasks as needed.
  • Support internal controls and compliance related to GM standards and procedures.
  • Maintain ISO standards and support GMS (Global Manufacturing System) elements.
  • Participate in ongoing improvement projects to enhance efficiency, material accuracy, and overall plant performance.
  • Evaluate Concerned Parts Reports (PPS) daily and take corrective action when necessary.
