About The Position

Who will you be working with? You will be part of the Materials Supply Chain Team, working closely with receiving, freight companies, production leaders, and buyers to ensure materials are available, properly stored, and delivered to production in a timely manner. This role partners with Purchasing, Manufacturing Teams, and Quality to support production schedules, aftermarket customer sales order demand, material flow, and inventory accuracy. How will you make the difference As a Materials Controller , you will play a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations by ensuring material availability, inventory accuracy, and controlled stockroom operations. You will be responsible for receiving transactions for new parts, properly storing parts in the appropriate locations, pulling material directly from warehouses, production lineside part availability and maintaining accurate inventory records. Your work will directly impact production efficiency, quality, and compliance with planning and safety standards. Support the production team by ensuring sufficient materials are stored in the correct locations, collaborating with other departments to resolve inventory and receiving discrepancies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certificate in logistics, supply chain, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in materials control, receiving, inventory management, stockroom, warehouse, or manufacturing support roles
  • Experience with inventory control practices in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); ERP experience (Oracle or similar systems) required
  • Forklift and overhead hoist operation experience preferred (or willingness to become certified)
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, cycle counting, and material flow
  • Ability to read and follow planning instructions, work orders, and written/oral procedures
  • Strong attention to detail, efficiency, quality, and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, complex manufacturing environment
  • Commitment to safe work practices and quality standards

Responsibilities

  • Receive and validate shipment accuracy for new supplier shipments.
  • Record the receipt transaction into the ERP system
  • Store incoming parts in the appropriate stocking location
  • Pull material directly from warehouses and internal stockrooms and allocate to the production lines to ensure production is not disrupted
  • Perform all duties of a shop general as required
  • Receive, move, stock, and organize materials within designated storage areas
  • Maintain physical stockrooms using 5S principles (organization, cleanliness, labeling)
  • Perform inventory control activities, including cycle counting and discrepancy resolution
  • Conduct ERP transactions and maintain accurate inventory data as material flows through the process
  • Operate forklifts and overhead hoists in accordance with safety requirements
  • Ensure quality of work performed by following prescribed methods, quality standards, and planning instructions
  • Communicate material shortages, delays, and issues to appropriate stakeholders
  • Follow all safety procedures, including PPE requirements and equipment inspections
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
