About The Position

This is a Stanford Health Care job. The Materials Assistant I, Dock Services receives, stores, issues or delivers equipment or supplies, takes inventory, reconciles inventory discrepancies, ships items for return or repair, stores equipment or records, coordinates sale or disposal of surplus or demised equipment or furniture, tags capital equipment, and assists with special projects. Employees must abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including but not limited to sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patients rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings. All duties and responsibilities must be performed in accordance with the Service Standards of the Hospital(s). Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED Equivalent
  • One (1) year of directly related work experience
  • Ability to accept of patient, families, visitors and co-workers regardless of race, gender, disease process, life-style, religious or cultural beliefs or treatment

Responsibilities

  • Abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including but not limited to sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patients rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Service Standards of the Hospital(s).
  • Answers questions from Hospital departments applicable to work performed.
  • Ascertains condition of incoming supplies, notes discrepancies or damages goods.
  • Assists with physical inventories.
  • Carries or uses other applicable materials handling equipment to deliver supplies to proper locations.
  • Controls traffic in and about receiving dock.
  • Counts or otherwise measures all receipts to Bulk Stores inventory.
  • Delivers or picks up supplies and equipment to/from Hospital departments.
  • Files daily proofs of delivery, activity reports and receiving documentation and maintains files in a neat and organized manner.
  • Follows SUMC safety guidelines for self, patients, visitors and employees.
  • Keeps all work and break areas in a neat, clean and organized condition.
  • Keeps Supervisor informed of needed supplies.
  • Maintains professional and self-development by participation in educational opportunities that are available internally and externally.
  • Maintains proper inventory control of stocked items.
  • Maintains short-term storage for Hospital records and equipment.
  • Manages information utilizing appropriate manual or electronic systems.
  • Monitors the storage and pickup of bio-hazardous waste, recyclable, medical gases and flammables.
  • Obtains proof of delivery for all non-stock items delivered.
  • Operates Dock Services Vehicles.
  • Processes all paperwork pertinent to applicable duties.
  • Receives all items deliverable to Hospital dock.
  • Receives through Materials Management Information System all inventory receipts.
  • Reports all unsafe equipment or conditions to department Lead or Supervisor.
  • Requisitions stock for inventory.
  • Researches delivery points and purchase orders.
  • Responds with patient and non-patient emergencies according to SUMC policies and procedures and job requirements.
  • Seeks resources for direction, when necessary.
  • Ships repairs and returns via U.P.S.
  • Stocks shelves with inventory items.
  • Works in a safe manner.
  • Follows SUMC Infection Prevention policies and procedures.
  • Adopt and execute C-I-CARE standards for all of patients, families and towards each other.
