The EKG Technician is a critical role within Franciscan Health, assisting doctors in performing cardiovascular exams on patients. This position is responsible for overseeing, administering, analyzing, and recording tests that require special EKG equipment. Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Required within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities
- Ensure that all patients are calm and relaxed during the process, allowing for quality test output.
- Monitor equipment throughout the test to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
- Prepare images and data in a preliminary report in designated reporting system, such as cardiology PACS or EMR system, prior to physician reading the study.
- Make appropriate accommodation to 12 lead EKG test, such as perform right sided EKG for suspected right ventricular infarct.
- Administer cardiac stress testing for exercise and pharmacological stress testing.
- Apply cardiac rhythm monitoring equipment, Holter monitors/event monitors, and ambulatory mobile telemetry monitors.
- Explain the function and process of EKG exams to patients prior to the test.
