Position Summary The Material Planner I is responsible for developing and executing production plans that support customer service requirements while maintaining optimal inventory levels and ensuring compliance with safety, ISO, and corporate policies. This role partners closely with Customer Service, Operations, and Sales to align production schedules with business needs and minimize inventory risk.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in production planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Nice To Haves

  • AICP certification preferred.
  • Green Belt certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures; actively support and promote a “Safety First” culture.
  • Understand and fully utilize all ISO procedures, work instructions (WI’s), and standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
  • Develop and maintain master production plans that meet customer demand while adhering to plant planning guidelines.
  • Monitor and manage finished goods inventory levels by production line, customer, and item.
  • Develop, track, and maintain finished goods inventory targets.
  • Input finished goods work orders and manage production performance versus plan.
  • Create finite production schedules within predefined planning buckets based on customer service designations.
  • Collaborate with Operations to ensure adequate staffing and production days are scheduled; adjust plans as business needs change.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Customer Service, Capacity Planning, Product Development, Operations, and Sales regarding production planning, trials, capital upgrades, and maintenance activities.
  • Lead planning meetings and facilitate cross-functional communication to resolve potential issues.
  • Report on and follow up with inventory that has no open sales orders and aged finished goods to minimize aged inventory reserves.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate policies, SOX requirements, and documented processes.
  • Maintain all planning-related forms and job training records in compliance with ISO requirements.
