About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for ensuring that materials are readily available for the production process while maintaining the highest levels of safety and efficiency. The primary responsibilities of a Material Handler include receiving, storing, and distributing materials, as well as maintaining accurate inventory records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Driver history must comply with company driver qualification standards for insurability.
  • Must maintain valid DOT medical certification card.
  • Must be 18 years of age to meet auto insurance requirement.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail when inspecting materials for accuracy, damage, or defects.
  • Strong organizational skills to ensure proper organization, labeling, and inventory management.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to report issues, communicate with team members, and interact with other departments.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure a safe work environment.
  • The position involves frequent lifting, bending, and standing. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.

Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming materials, inspecting them for accuracy, damage, defects, or discrepancies, and report any issues to the supervisor.
  • Safely operate a forklift to load and unload materials onto/off the delivery truck, ensuring secure placement in bins, and balanced transit.
  • Safely store materials in designated areas, ensuring proper organization, labeling, and cleanliness to prevent accidents and facilitate easy access.
  • Retrieve, distribute, and transport materials to production areas as per schedule and work orders, ensuring accuracy in quantity, location, and timing.
  • Keep accurate records of inventory levels, perform regular cycle counts, and update the inventory management system.
  • Communicate with the warehouse to order materials for replenishment.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment safely and efficiently, performing routine maintenance checks and reporting issues.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines, company policies, and maintain effective communication with production, warehouse, and other departments.
  • Report any delays, shortages, or issues promptly.
  • Provide backup support to loading staff during busy periods and transfer truck driver.
  • Operate a 26-foot box truck safely and responsibly, adhering to traffic laws and company policies.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maneuver trucks into loading/unloading positions, secure cargo, and maintain truck cleanliness.
  • Verify the accuracy of materials against delivery documentation.
