About The Position

Material Handlers may work in the shipping, receiving, and inventory or return areas of the parts distribution center and may be rotated between all areas within a scheduled period. Duties include picking, packing, shipping, receiving, forklift driving, and cycle counting. Material handlers may perform special duties as requested and work on special projects within the distribution center.

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly, and occasionally up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and moving across the concrete surfaces throughout the shift.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching overhead to access and handle products or equipment.
  • Operating hand trucks, pallet jacks, or other equipment requiring pushing and pulling of materials.
  • Occasionally climbing ladders or using step stools to access higher storage areas
  • Repetitive hand and arm movements, such as lifting, scanning, or packing.
  • Manual dexterity and grip strength required for handling small tools, packages, and equipment.
  • Good vision, including close vision, distance vision, and ability to distinguish colors, along with the ability to hear safety signals and communications clearly.
  • Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, including hot, cold with variant noise levels
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse machinery.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of two years of general warehouse/logistics experience preferred
  • Experience with mechanized equipment and Forklift certification is preferred
  • Basic computer (PC) proficiency that include exposure to a parts information system and MS Office is preferred
  • Ability to operate hand-held RF-unit equipment

Responsibilities

  • Receive freight, including off loading of containers
  • Accurately identify, count and verify parts using receiving documents
  • Stock parts based on part number and location
  • Pick part orders using RF technology and packing labels
  • Pack parts according to packing requirements
  • Operate machinery as necessary (ex: fork lifts, high reach order pickers, tuggers, etc)
  • Maintain clean and safe working areas and display good housekeeping habits.
  • Work within specified hazardous material handling requirements
  • Perform cycle counts and physical inventories when required
  • Participate in a 'continuous improvement' environment that facilitates process enhancements
  • Other duties as required
  • Responsible for the proper usage of, awareness of, and compliance with Information Technology security policies at Porsche Cars North America
  • Seeks to ensure proper retention of electronic documents, business confidential information, and actively demonstrates an understanding of the need to safeguard competitive information in both electronic and non-electronic formats
  • Must be willing to work overtime, including evenings and weekends
  • Must be able and willing to adhere to and follow company policies and procedures to include regular, timely attendance at work
