The Material Handler is primarily responsible for the transfer of raw materials, parts, and finished products between various production areas and internal and/or external warehouses. Day to day duties will include (but are not limited to) delivering parts to the assembly line with the use of equipment in a timely manner to ensure adherence to production schedules, as well as monitoring inventory levels of materials. The Material Handler must also maintain tidy work areas and follow detailed instructions in order to meet safety and quality requirements. This position will work a Monday – Thursday 6:00AM – 4:30PM schedule, but occasional overtime may be required.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and write notes and memos.
  • Must possess math skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
  • Demonstrate ability to speak clearly to be understood in one-on-one conversations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Prior material handling experience in a warehouse/ industrial environment
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Read, write, comprehend and verbally communicate in English
  • Capable of operating any Power Industrial Vehicle (PIV)(Testing Required)
  • Attention to detail
  • Willing to perform repetitive tasks while sitting or standing
  • Good hand eye coordination
  • Physical ability to climb stairs, bend, sit, stand, walk, reach with arms, push, pull and use hands and fingers to feel and handle material for extended timeframes.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds repeatedly and regularly.  Includes the ability to stoop, squat, crawl, and kneel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers parts to production areas in a timely manner
  • Count material, equipment, or supplies as requested in stock and reports totals or updates inventory records.
  • Prepares a list of depleted items, as well as defective or unusable items.
  • Locate and extract information from files or online locations as requested
  • Immediately report all safety incidents/accidents, no matter how small, to their supervisor.
  • May participate in weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual physical inventories by entering data into the system and supporting the overall inventory process.
