The Global Supply Chain organization at Leidos currently has an opening for a Material Cost Estimating Intern to work in our Reston, VA office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your supply chain, procurement, enterprise technology, and project management expertise to support multiple new business proposals and strategic sourcing initiatives. This role is a position where you will be gathering customer requirements, overseeing the RFx process, supporting negotiations, and estimating material costs on proposals to win new business for Leidos. Our ideal candidate will be trusted to dive right in and communicate with multiple levels of management. Other possible job responsibilities associated with this role could include Supplier Management, Business Process Re-Engineering, and Procurement Tool deployments. Due to nature of assignments, up to 10% travel is possible. Primary Responsibilities As part of the 2026 Procurement Proposal Strategy Intern Project, the Intern will work with Global Supply Chain professionals to document the data requirements, ideate on the user experience, and design/modify the user interface of a Microsoft PowerBI dashboard highlighting proposal volume, proposal success ratio, estimating velocity, and cost avoidance. The resulting dashboard(s) will provide Materials & Operations Strategy (M&OS) leadership a view of our support of new business captures and create a view of Leidos’ potential contract pipeline and enable better decision-making capabilities. The Intern will also be responsible for documenting new business processes with regards to recent corporate acquisitions. In addition to data analysis project and documenting new processes, the Intern will estimate material costs on proposals as a Material Pricing Analyst (MPA). Specifically, the Intern will work to understand program requirements, engage Leidos suppliers for pricing and solutions, and generate compliant and competitive material cost estimates. The Intern will gain exposure to different functions in the Leidos new business process including Business Development, Pricing, Engineering, and Program Management. Dependent on customer timing, the Intern will have the opportunity to support a high-profile customer Vendor Maintenance Agreement (VMA) proposal. Other tasks include: -Responsible for timely and accurate material pricing on proposal efforts. -Candidate will own the request for quote process, which includes maintaining compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS). -Candidate will be responsible for meeting cost savings and avoidance targets so negotiations skills are a must. -Candidate will conduct data analytics and analyze large data sets to price Bill of Materials (BOM). -Candidate will be working among a matrixed organization support engineering, program management, and financial functions.
