Requirements

  • Pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Architectural Drafting & Estimating Technology, Construction Management, or similar degree
  • Must be authorized to work in the US PCL will not sponsor an employment visa (e.g. H1-B, etc.) for this position
  • Any experience using the following; On-Screen Takeoff, Microsoft Excel and Word, Revit, Acrobat, and other computer software
  • Required to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, with project personnel, suppliers, subcontractors and owners
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications, and perform quantity take offs
  • Employment with PCL is contingent upon passing a substance abuse test

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of unit pricing and a general understanding of conceptual estimating
  • Prior experience working in construction
  • Have a general understanding of contract agreements; Lump Sum, Design Build, Project Management, Construction Management, Public/Private Partnership

Responsibilities

  • As an Intern, you will be given similar responsibilities as a full-time, entry-level Estimator.
  • You will have the opportunity to participate in company training opportunities, events, and community volunteer opportunities.
  • Reviews quantity survey assignment with lead estimator
  • Performs general sub-trade solicitation duties
  • Bid document control
  • Performs bid day assignments
  • Sub-trade bid reviews and recapping
  • Visits job sites periodically
  • Use of in-house estimating software (BEST Estimating)
  • Develops relationships with subcontractors
  • Other duties as assigned
