About The Position

Powell is a manufacturer of switchgear and other electrical equipment. We are seeking a Material Coordinator for our location in Southeast Houston! Four 10s schedule: Monday-Thursday 5:00am-3:30pm Position Summary Records and maintains control of all inventory items purchased and produced. Ensures compliance with established internal control procedures. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. May work under general supervision to complete job requirements. A degree of creativity and latitude is required to effectively perform the job.

Requirements

  • A minimum education level of a High School Diploma is required.
  • Minimum 0-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Must be responsible and dependable
  • Basic computer knowledge is a requirement with knowledge of running queries in Oracle and proficiency in Excel considered an asset
  • Basic mechanical knowledge
  • Previous experience in an industrial or warehouse setting

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in Switchgear units is considered an asset.
  • Prior ability or interest in building or repairing mechanical components considered an asset.
  • Safety training certificates are an asset for the position.
  • Forklift experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain sufficient inventory levels of point of use items to support daily production requirements
  • Review, release and track the timely completion and delivery of Make and Buy parts to Assembly
  • Work closely with the department Expeditor to communicate project shortages at time of kit to Assembly Leads/Supervisors
  • Coordinate delivery of urgent Make and Buy parts from the Fabrication Departments and Stockroom to the assembly line, including the need to assist with the delivery of these items when necessary
  • Update and Maintain project shortage list through the assembly line process and document shortages on the EDR form when sections are moved to the floor
  • Work closely with department Expeditor of the tracking, completion and delivery of ECO components
  • Collaborate with the Assembly team to analyze lost or missing components and create DJs or replacement requests to maintain workflow continuity
  • Utilize Oracle to analyze data and develop countermeasures to eliminate inventory discrepancies
  • Assist Inventory Control with departmental cycle counting and root cause analysis to maintain inventory accuracy
  • Perform regular evaluation of Departmental item location accuracy
  • Attend daily passdown meetings
