About The Position

The Master Scheduler leads the company's production scheduling function across all facilities, overseeing a team of schedulers responsible for five manufacturing plants. This high-impact role ensures that production plans align with customer demand, capacity, and inventory strategies while driving system efficiency and continuous improvement. The Master Scheduler is the central link between Operations, Customer Service, Sales, and Supply Chain to balance service, cost, and efficiency across the network. While this role provides leadership, analytical insight, and strategic planning, the Master Scheduler will occasionally perform direct scheduling activities to support team coverage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in production planning or scheduling in a food manufacturing or process manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership or multi-site coordination role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing capacity planning, MRP principles, and inventory control.
  • Proficiency with ERP and scheduling tools (specific system experience not required).
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills; experience with BI or reporting tools preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team of schedulers across multiple plants, ensuring consistency in scheduling processes and best practices.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex scheduling and capacity issues.
  • Maintain and optimize the master production schedule across facilities, ensuring alignment with demand forecasts, capacity, and materials availability.
  • Conduct regular capacity and resource analyses to identify constraints and propose solutions.
  • Collaborate with plant operations to balance workloads and optimize line utilization.
  • Partner with Customer Service, Sales, and Operations to ensure customer commitments are met while maintaining efficient production flow.
  • Work closely with Logistics to align finished goods production with shipping and warehousing capacity.
  • Act as a key user and subject matter expert for the ERP and scheduling systems; ensure data accuracy and process integrity.
  • Lead or support system improvement projects and ERP enhancements related to production planning and scheduling.
  • Develop tools and dashboards for visibility into capacity, inventory, and performance metrics.
  • Drive process standardization, scheduling efficiency, and communication across all scheduling teams.
  • Lead initiatives focused on reducing changeovers, minimizing downtime, and improving schedule adherence.
