Master Scheduler is responsible for coordinating the activities of planning and scheduling for manufacturing and assembly. Interacts closely with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Accounting, Human Resources, Quality and Sales to effectively plan and execute master schedules to meet and support our customers’ requirements. The Master Scheduler provides input to management for sales forecasts, required capacity adjustments and interfaces with supply chain, marketing, sales and production. Works with internal departments to resolve labor and material shortages, and manage backlog and other potential schedule interruptions. Essential Functions Primary integrator for Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) activity: contribute to material procurement timing, order release timing requirements, available capacity, and lead-times. Interacts with Sales to coordinate an overall production plan to meet Customer demand. Reviews production schedules and related information and coordinates with others to determine material requirements. Adjusts schedules to facilitate changes caused by customer needs or other production demands. Evaluates impact of customer demand changes, advises as to impacts to manufacturing and supply chain to prevent shortage or expedite conditions. Owns the Master Production Schedule and slot plans for roll-outs and obsolescence of global products and ensures a consistent handoff of planning information to the production work cells so that the MPS and production schedules are synchronized. Leads Capacity Requirements Planning (CRP) processes by gathering and loading information into planning tools, analyzing data, and providing regular updates to local management teams. Interfaces with Manufacturing cells to track and report production progress, including productivity, capacity shift and finished goods produced. Gathers production metrics and regularly reports internal and global KPIs. Will report to senior management on KPI trending and actions taken to improve KPI performance where it lags to targets. Will present data routinely to senior management. Presentation skills must support the ability to assess and provide detailed information in an elevated view to support business decisions. Ensures data integrity in the MRP systems Makes use of business forecast with easy to access and transparent data, and translates into forecast information for sourcing and manufacturing medium/long-term planning. Develop, implement and adjust manufactured and purchased material, component and subassembly order forecasting to achieve inventory plans and lead time expectations. Leads scheduling discussions with Sales, Supply Chain and Production to focus on a rolling six (6) month outlook which feeds directly into the financial forecast for billings. Coordinates capacity and long-term planning for both sourcing and manufacturing to ensure accurate delivery dates are given. Understands material and machine capacity and constraints. Determine and communicate lead times. Adjust lead times as necessary to balance current capacity with order management Supports the Financial Planning and Analysis business cycles for budgeting, revenue and cost planning, and inventory forecasting. Coordinates with Supply Chain value stream to ensure that supply of parts meets the planned requirements Identify any orders placed within agreed to lead times and countermeasure appropriate actions. Level load demand. Identify peaks and valleys in the shop schedule and adjust to maximize efficiency and on time delivery. Machine/Work Center Job Sequencing – Determine order of jobs to be run at each work center on a daily or shift basis. Get feedback to monitor and update routings for set up time, queue time, move time and run times.
