Everyone deserves to feel healthy in both body and mind. Here at The Mental Health Center, we’re committed to helping you understand mental illness and get on the road to recovery. Our programs and services aim to restore health and improve quality of life. Interns are expected to see a minimum of five patient contacts during an eight-hour workday. Because ACT patients often require multiple visits per week, the number of unique patients served weekly may vary based on clinical need. Cypress Center: This internship is designed for second-year, master’s-level students seeking advanced clinical experience in an intensive treatment setting. Interns are assigned to work individually with approximately 2–3 patients per day within our unit’s milieu environment, while also facilitating evidence-based group interventions and coordinating discharge planning to ensure continuity of care. Interns provide both individual and group interventions aimed at crisis stabilization, symptom reduction, and the development of coping and relapse-prevention skills. In addition to direct clinical services, interns collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes medical providers, licensed clinicians, nursing staff, and counselors to support the successful completion of short-term treatment plans and promote safe reintegration into the community. Responsibilities include timely and accurate daily clinical documentation within the electronic medical record, participation in treatment team meetings, and coordination with outpatient providers and community resources to support discharge planning and ongoing care. This is an on-site internship requiring availability from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., approximately 24 hours a week, for two to three weekdays, depending on academic requirements and program expectations. The experience is structured to provide meaningful clinical responsibility while offering supervision and collaboration that support professional growth and skill development. Supervisors have LCMHC, LICSW for credentials. Child and Adolescent: Our Child and Adolescent Department provides a comprehensive range of behavioral health services to children and youth ages 2–21 across home, community, and office-based settings. This is a 20-hour-per-week internship designed to offer meaningful clinical responsibility, hands-on learning, and strong supervisory support. Depending on program requirements, interns will be matched with appropriately credentialed supervisors, including LCMHC, MLADC, DSW, LICSW, and LMFT professionals.
