2026 Summer Internships Cleveland-based Ideastream Public Media, Ohio’s largest public media organization and home to PBS, NPR, and classical stations, is looking for its next cohort of summer interns! Our Internship Program is designed to maximize the internship experience through hands-on work, delivery of products, and relationship-building with our staff. We eagerly welcome individuals with diverse lived experiences and perspectives to enrich our work and bring fresh ideas into our organization. Each internship comes with a $3,500 stipend paid over the course of the 10-week internship period from June 1 through August 7, 2026. Interns will be scheduled to work onsite 25 hours per week and will participate in a group project. We have positions available in Cleveland at The Idea Center and at The Ohio Channel in Columbus. Cleveland: Arts and Culture: The Intern will assist in local arts and culture content production for digital, television, and radio platforms. This includes content on WKSU and “Applause” on WVIZ, with particular emphasis on the team’s online arts content for ideastream.org, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. At the conclusion of the internship, the Intern will have learned multimedia content creation skills as well as improved writing and creative thinking skills. Digital: The Intern will assist with the Digital Content and News teams to produce visual content for digital platforms including web, social media, and newsletters. The Intern will learn best practices for digital content creation, specifically news photos and video production. At the conclusion of the internship, the Intern will learn visual storytelling techniques and skills and have a photojournalism portfolio. News: The Intern will work as a member of the News team to support coverage of general news, breaking news, including, but not limited to, issues of public safety, government, and race and diversity. At the conclusion of the internship, the Intern will have created content for radio broadcast and digital publication. Sound of Ideas: The Intern will assist with planning, researching, booking, and producing Ideastream Public Media’s morning public affairs news show, the “Sound of Ideas”. At the conclusion of the internship, the Intern will have improved news judgement, critical thinking, writing, and interview skills. WCLV: The Intern will establish a new feature in WCLV’s programming software MusicMaster to help station Hosts identify complete histories of classical pieces as they are scheduled for air and then published on Ideastream Public Media digital platforms. At the conclusion of the internship, the Intern will have gained familiarization with a large classical recording database and will have contributed to the efficiency of the station’s programming process. Columbus: Statehouse News Bureau: The Intern will work as a member of the Statehouse News Bureau team to support digital media production. They will create and distribute content on social channels and collaborate with colleagues to support video production. At the conclusion of the internship, the Intern will have contributed and learned news production for radio and television broadcast and digital publication. The Ohio Channel: The Intern will support the technical and operational broadcasts of The Ohio Channel and gain experience with video production, live and recorded coverage, and digital archiving of legislative and public meetings. At the conclusion of the internship, the Intern will be familiar with broadcast production and equipment as well as an understanding of public-service media.
