About The Position

The Marketing Strategist is responsible for planning and building out strategic marketing campaigns for major church initiatives such as ministry launches, conferences, and special events. This role focuses on upstream thinking - clarifying goals, mapping audiences, defining messaging, and shaping rollout plans across digital and in-person platforms. The Marketing Strategist will hand off well-developed campaign strategies to the Sr. Project Manager, who will delegate the execution. This role works closely with the Marketing Director, Creative Director, and Sr. Project Manager to ensure campaigns are clear, aligned, and effective. The strategist builds the plan and refines it, others will execute on it.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to develop and execute comprehensive, multi-channel campaign strategies that clarify goals, define target audiences, and drive engagement
  • Shapes clear, compelling message frameworks that align with organizational voice, mission, and a multi-campus context
  • Creates structured campaign briefs, rollout plans, and planning tools that guide creative, communications, and project workflows
  • Collaborates effectively with creative, marketing, communications, and web teams to ensure alignment across strategy, timelines, and execution
  • Communicates strategic direction clearly to internal teams and ministry partners, ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms
  • Participates in post-campaign reviews, applying insights to improve future initiatives and campaign effectiveness
  • Maintains and improves templates, processes, and planning tools to support repeatable and scalable campaign execution
  • Stays informed on best practices in church communications, digital behavior, and evolving communication strategies
  • Ability to maintain good or corrected vision, including depth perception and focus adjustment
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements
  • Ability to remain seated in a stationary position for extended periods
  • Ability to operate computer and office equipment for prolonged durations
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. and occasionally push/pull up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written and verbal form
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in marketing, communications, or strategy required
  • Must exemplify The CBC Ways of Honor, Hospitality, Hustle, High Capacity, and Humility
  • Must be willing to work weekends and occasional special events
  • CBC Member, genuine desire to serve God and the Church
  • Must live life beyond reproach 1 Timothy 3

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or a related discipline preferred

Responsibilities

  • Create comprehensive marketing strategies for events, launches, and seasonal initiatives
  • Clarify campaign goals, define target audiences, and shape the message framework
  • Develop rollout plans across web, email, social, print, video, and weekend environments
  • Write clear campaign briefs that guide creative, communications, and project workflows
  • Align all campaign plans with CBC’s voice, mission, and multi-campus context
  • Partner with Communication and Web teams to improve visibility of key initiatives
  • Collaborate closely with Creative Director, Marketing Director, and Sr. Project Manager
  • Participate in campaign kickoffs, strategy sessions, and milestone reviews
  • Communicate strategic direction clearly to ministry partners and internal teams
  • Ensure messaging and promotional cadence are synced across all platforms
  • Participate in post-campaign reviews and suggest improvements for future initiatives
  • Maintain templates and campaign planning tools for repeatable, scalable use
  • Stay informed on best practices in church communications, digital behavior, and strategy
  • Perform additional duties as assignes
