About The Position

The Marketing & Communications Intern supports the Commissioners of the Land Office (CLO) by assisting with the development, coordination, and delivery of internal and external public communications. This position provides hands-on experience in marketing, digital content, and public communications while supporting the agency’s mission and brand. The intern assists with website updates, social media content, graphic design, photography, and promotional materials under the guidance of the Director of Legislative Affairs & Public Relations.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in or recent completion of a bachelor’s degree program in Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, Fine Arts, Public Relations, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Coursework or demonstrated interest in marketing, communications, graphic design, or digital media.
  • Creative thinking and willingness to contribute ideas.
  • Knowledge of basic marketing, communications, and promotional principles.
  • Skill in using Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to learn new software and technology quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to accept direction and feedback for professional development.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license from a U.S. state or territory to perform necessary job-related travel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with creating, editing, and proofreading marketing and communication materials, including flyers, brochures, posters, advertisements, banners, and press releases.
  • Support email marketing campaigns by drafting content, proofreading materials, and assisting with scheduling and distribution.
  • Ensure marketing materials are consistent with CLO branding and messaging guidelines.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining website content, including announcements, blog posts, and graphics, under guidance from CLO staff.
  • Research and draft content ideas related to agency programs, initiatives, or events.
  • Monitor website content for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assist in creating, posting, and monitoring content across CLO social media platforms.
  • Support engagement by monitoring comments and messages and escalating issues as needed.
  • Assist with promoting CLO activities and initiatives through digital channels.
  • Photograph and edit images of CLO programs, events, and activities as assigned.
  • Assist with maintaining an organized photo and media library for marketing and archival use.
  • Support records retention and archiving of digital content in coordination with administrative staff.
  • Provide administrative support for marketing and communications projects as assigned.
  • Assist with preparation of materials for meetings or outreach activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support CLO operations.
