About The Position

The Credit Union Marketing Manager leads the development and execution of strategic marketing initiatives designed to grow membership, deepen engagement, and increase penetration across the full suite of Sierra Central Credit Union products—including loans, deposits, digital services, and other financial solutions—while strengthening member relationships throughout Northern California communities. This role oversees multi channel marketing campaigns, including digital, social media, email, and branch promotions, to support the credit union’s business goals and deepen member relationships. The manager collaborates closely with product teams, and branch operations to promote key financial products. Additionally, the Marketing Manager will be responsible for analyzing market and membership data and ensuring all communications comply with financial regulations. A successful candidate brings strong strategic thinking, creativity, and hands-on execution skills, along with an understanding of credit union values and member service. This role plays a central part in positioning the credit union as a trusted, community driven financial partner throughout Sierra Central’s Northern California footprint.

Requirements

  • Strategic Marketing Skills - Ability to develop and execute marketing plans that support organizational goals, member growth, and product performance.
  • Strong Communication Skills - Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, including copywriting, editing, and presenting to internal stakeholders. With the ability to type at least 70 words per minute.
  • Digital Marketing Expertise - Proficiency with digital channels, including social media management, email marketing, SEO/SEM concepts, and website content management.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting - Ability to analyze market data, campaign metrics, and member insights to guide decision-making and measure results.
  • Project Management - Skilled in organizing, prioritizing, and managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creative Thinking - Strong creativity with the ability to design engaging campaigns, messaging, and member experiences.
  • Brand Stewardship - Understanding of brand positioning, identity, and consistent application across all communication platforms.
  • Collaboration & Relationship Building - Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (lending, branch operations, L&D, IT and other departments) and external partners/vendors.
  • Regulatory Awareness - Understanding of financial services marketing regulations, including NCUA advertising standards and compliance requirements.
  • Technology Proficiency - Comfortable using marketing software tools such as CRM systems, email platforms, content management systems (CMS), social media management tools, and analytics platforms.
  • Adaptability & Problem Solving - Skilled at adjusting to changing priorities and identifying effective solutions to marketing challenges.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office and Google Business Suite - Skilled and comfortable using the core productivity tools from both platforms. This includes the ability to create, edit, and manage documents, spreadsheets, presentations, emails, calendars, and shared files. It also includes the capability to collaborate effectively with others using cloud based tools, organize information efficiently, and perform day to day administrative or operational tasks using these systems with minimal guidance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 3–5 years of professional marketing experience, preferably in financial services, banking, or credit unions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi channel marketing campaigns, including digital, social media, email, and traditional advertising.
  • Experience working with CRM systems, marketing automation platforms, and analytics tools, and digital ad management.
  • Graphic Design or Creative Software Skills - Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Canva, or similar design tools.
  • Experience developing marketing content such as website copy, promotional materials, newsletters, and social media posts.
  • Experience analyzing marketing performance data and making data-driven recommendations.
  • Knowledge of Northern California Markets - Familiarity with local demographics, community organizations, and regional marketing opportunities.
  • Experience Managing External Agencies and Vendors - Background coordinating with creative agencies, printers, digital partners, and media representatives.

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management Certification or Training - PMP, including the ability to coordinate vendors, internal teams, and external partners. Agile marketing experience, or similar training (helpful but not required).
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Execute Marketing Strategy - Create annual and quarterly marketing plans aligned with organizational goals, membership growth targets, and product priorities.
  • Lead Multi Channel Campaigns - Plan, implement, and track campaigns across digital, social media, email, website, in branch, and traditional advertising channels.
  • Brand Management - Maintain and strengthen the credit union’s brand identity, ensuring consistency across all materials, communications, and member touchpoints.
  • Product Marketing Support - Collaborate with lending, retail, and digital banking teams to promote products such as loans, credit cards, deposits, and online services.
  • Content Development - Write and oversee the creation of marketing content, including social posts, website updates, newsletters, brochures, member communications, and press releases.
  • Data & Market Analysis - Analyze market trends, competitor activity, campaign performance, and member demographics to inform strategy and optimize results.
  • Website & Digital Experience Management - Oversee content updates, SEO efforts, user experience improvements, and online promotions to support digital growth.
  • Social Media Management - Manage social platforms, ensuring timely, compliant, and engaging content that supports brand awareness and member engagement.
  • Vendor & Agency Management - Collaborate with designers, printers, media partners, digital agencies, and other vendors to execute marketing initiatives.
  • Regulatory Compliance - Ensure all marketing materials meet credit union, state, and federal regulations (including NCUA and advertising standards).
  • Internal Communication Support - Provide communication tools, campaign updates, and promotional materials to branch teams and staff.
  • Reporting & Performance Metrics - Prepare regular reports summarizing campaign effectiveness, member response, and overall marketing performance.
  • Market research and Business Intelligence - Responsible for defining competitive market requirements and opportunities that focus in the development and execution of marketing plans, initiatives, promotions, and communications related to specific customers and to specific products and services.
  • Product Management, branding and design - Defines competitive market requirements and opportunities, and provides ongoing marketing support that ensures the competitiveness of existing products.
