About The Position

Family Service Association has an exciting opportunity for an unpaid internship in our Marketing Department. The Marketing Intern will support the agency’s mission to promote health and well-being by contributing to research-driven outreach, communications, and strategic development initiatives. This role offers hands-on experience in gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing information that strengthens community engagement and expands awareness of agency programs and services. Under the guidance of the Director of Communications, the intern will conduct market and audience research, evaluate outreach performance, identify partnership opportunities, assist with grant research and writing, and help develop data-informed strategies that enhance the agency’s reach. While occasional content support may be included, the primary focus of this internship is research, analysis, and strategic planning.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing tools
  • Passion for community service and public health
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Candidates must pass CORI and CPS (child protective services) background checks

Nice To Haves

  • Basic graphic design or video editing skills are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Conduct market research to understand community needs, audience behaviors, and trends relevant to public health outreach
  • Analyze engagement metrics and other data to evaluate the effectiveness of current communication strategies
  • Research potential partner organizations and agencies to identify opportunities for collaboration
  • Explore and assess opportunities to expand agency services within the local area
  • Assist in researching grant opportunities and support the preparation of grant proposals
  • Develop research-based recommendations to strengthen outreach, marketing, and community engagement initiatives
  • Support the Director of Communications in implementing strategic marketing and communication plan
  • Contribute to outreach efforts by providing data insights that inform messaging, campaign direction, and program development
  • Provide occasional support in preparing informational materials or assisting with events as needed
