The Marketing Automation Specialist handles the day-to-day function of the automation channel as well as fostering improvement and growth. The Specialist works with multiple departments, i.e. Digital Marketing, Product Management, Events, etc., to meet their communication needs. Execution of campaigns includes sending emails to new prospects, reengaging with existing dormant customers, promoting company events, and more. The Specialist improves the effectiveness of the email channel, properly selecting the right audience for each campaign, to increase user engagement and conversion rates. Additionally, the Marketing Automation Specialist contributes to the company’s digital lead generation activities. Working cross-functionally, the Specialist works with Marketing, Product Management, and Sales to capture leads on the websites. The Specialist creates lead capture forms for deployment on the sites - working to improve conversion rates, increasing the number of leads generated, as well as maintaining the quality of the leads.

Requirements

  • Hands-on use of email marketing platform Marketo.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel with ability to create complex spreadsheets using formulas, including v-lookup, and pivot tables.
  • Working knowledge of creating and implementing lead capture forms.
  • Basic understanding of Marketing Automation solutions.
  • Basic understanding of website architecture and basic web development skills, including HTML/CSS and CMS systems, with ability to engage with the development team.
  • Understanding of email marketing strategies and experience with campaign execution, including brand/product awareness, lead generation, and transactional campaigns.
  • Analytical skills with ability to monitor email channel performance, quantify and identify areas for improvement.
  • Analytical (data-driven) approach to plan, execute, and review email and lead generation improvement projects.
  • Collaboration skills with ability to work with external vendors and internal cross-functional teams.
  • Communication skills with ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Organizational and project management skills with ability to plan and implement website changes
  • Multi-tasking skills with ability to manage different projects at various stages of development.

Responsibilities

  • Executes company and vendor partner email promotion and communication activities.
  • Implements email marketing campaigns
  • Works with Creative to craft engaging communications and meet deadlines – proofread emails for clarity, create compelling CTAs (A/B test as needed); deploy emails through Marketo
  • Supports the objectives of multi-channel campaigns – aligns with the company’s overall strategy, branding, and marketing and sales goals; collaborates with Digital Marketing, Events, and Product Management
  • Ensures emails follow industry policies and best practices
  • Analyzes campaign performance and make adjustments as needed - adjust timing and frequency to improve engagement and optimize retention; conduct comparative analysis (previous campaigns, other channels, industry averages)
  • Assists Manager, Marketing Automation to plan, analyze, and execute marketing automation strategy, including defining goals and objectives while ensuring adherence to ethical standards.
  • Improves the overall quality of email database(s) and increases their size – conducts periodic database reviews, removes inactive participants; identifies target audience(s) and grows the company’s email database(s); ensures prompt and accurate communication to minimize list decay and unsubscribes (align communications with customer/prospect interests and segment based on behaviors like past email engagement and website interactions)
  • Oversees the email deployment schedule – balance email requests with need to limit overexposure; maintain industry requirements (i.e. CAN-SPAM)
  • Remains up-to-date with email marketing developments, technologies, and best practices
  • Ensures optimal lead generation from capture to analysis of results
  • Creates lead capture forms, as requested
  • Tests and optimizes forms to improve quantity and quality of captured leads
  • Build and manage nurture campaigns to create MQLs for passing to sales
  • Forwards qualified leads to Sales through Salesforce
