About The Position

The Marketing and Communications Specialist supports The Nature Conservancy’s Leveraging Our Lands (LOL) initiative by managing and implementing content development, storytelling, and digital engagement for the Visitor Engagement and Activation Strategy. They collaborate closely with central Marketing & Communications (MAC), divisional MAC teams, and Business Unit (BU) partners to elevate preserve stories, enhance the visibility of TNC lands, and strengthen visitor engagement across digital platforms. The Specialist reports to the Associate Director of Marketing & Communications for LOL, and works closely with the Storytelling team to identify and deliver stories that support Nature Conservancy priorities. This is a term position ending December 31, 2028, with possibility for renewal. The Marketing and Communications Specialist leads the coordination and execution of content and communications that advance the Find Your Connection in Nature campaign and support the broader goals of the Leveraging Our Lands (LOL) Visitor Engagement and Activation Strategy. They serve as a central storyteller and strategic communicator—gathering compelling narratives from across the organization, translating them into engaging digital content and ensuring consistent, high-‑quality promotion of TNC preserves and visitor experiences. The Specialist manages an integrated editorial pipeline, producing stories, digital assets and social media content that elevate the visibility of TNC’s lands and connect audiences with nature. They work closely with the LOL team, central MAC, divisional MAC, and Business Unit partners to plan, create and publish content on Nature.org; develop monthly social toolkits; and track performance metrics to inform continuous improvement. The Specialist is responsible for managing a comprehensive audit of existing preserve-focused photo and video assets and develops a plan to address gaps through coordinated content capture. They may manage contractors, vendors or field-based contributors to ensure all visual assets meet brand and accessibility standards. This position will also support the North America LOL team to strengthen internal communications, including developing donor ready materials, maintaining the LOL Connect site and supporting a coordinated internal communications strategy that improves information flow and cross-team‑ alignment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and 5 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience cultivating and managing client/customer relationships.
  • Experience writing, editing and proofreading.
  • Experience organizing and coordinating multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the LOL team, central MAC, divisional MAC and BU leads to identify and write story opportunities that support the Find Your Connection in Nature campaign.
  • Build monthly multi‑channel social media toolkits in Sprout Social with copy, assets and campaign tagging to broadly promote preserve stories, and support field staff in deploying content across multiple platforms for scaled impact.
  • Collaborate with Global Media Team to pitch preserve-focused stories for consumer interest.
  • Use Sprout, Adobe Analytic and other available tools to monitor content performance, prepare monthly briefs or dashboards for leadership and partner teams and recommend adjustments to content strategy based on performance trends.
  • Conduct an audit of existing visual assets for preserves, identifying gaps and developing a strategic plan to capture new images, video, drone content (as allowed) and people in‑ ‑nature visuals.
  • Support the creation and implementation of an internal communications strategy for the LOL team, including crafting updates for team newsletters, organizing information flows, improving visibility of program milestones, and maintaining team Connect pages.
  • Travel occasionally to key preserves or team meetings; flexible hours may be required.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
