GENERAL FUNCTION: The Market Researcher will be responsible for working with key stakeholders on creating learning plans to achieve desired business outcomes, designing primary research studies, and executing a series of primary research projects. These research projects will inform a variety of practical business decisions, helping improve those decisions by grounding them in customer needs and voice. Ultimately this person helps the bank know where to play, what to build, how to win and how to optimize performance. This role will be focused initially on supporting the digital organization and the commercial bank through user experience research (UX). The person in this role will collaborate with multiple functional groups: digital design, product, engineering, strategy and analytics. They will develop a foundational understanding of consumers in our market, build relationships with key stakeholders, employ a variety of UX and market research methods, and execute a variety of UX tests on digital prototypes, among other activities that support the research function and business unit. All roles are responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. They are accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensuring that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, they achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing Research, Social Sciences (Sociology, Psychology) or other related discipline.
  • Typically requires minimum of 7-10 years work experience in statistical modeling and/or marketing research.
  • Significant experience in evaluative / UX research (e.g. usability tests, concept tests, navigation tests)
  • Significant experience in qualitative research methods generally (e.g. focus groups, online bulletin boards)
  • Significant experience in generative research (e.g. user interviews/in-depth interviews, contextual inquiry/field studies)
  • Significant experience in the end to end research process from study design to preparation and presentation of results and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated track record for managing small to large scale research projects.
  • Working knowledge of mathematical and statistical techniques used in quantitative survey research, with practical knowledge of their application to specific business problems.
  • Experience with web-based survey tools (preferably Qualtrics, UserZoom or UserTesting)
  • Experience working with designers and developers
  • Exposure to advanced quantitative analysis (e.g. multivariate regression, factor analysis, choice-based modeling, Max Diff, TURF, clustering, segmentation, etc.).
  • Outstanding influencing skills and demonstrated ability to work with senior stakeholders across business lines to build confidence and inspire collaboration.
  • Advance working knowledge of MS Office

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degrees preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with new product development or innovation.
  • Expertise in advanced survey analytics and quantitative analysis generally
  • Experience building new mobile applications
  • Financial services experience

Responsibilities

  • Execute UX and market research projects as an individual contributor. This may include defining research design, sample design, questionnaire development, fielding studies, interpreting results.
  • Identify key business problems where research or analysis provides insights into solutions and build out actionable recommendations for business partners and senior leadership.
  • Work proactively with cross functional teams to understand business questions/objectives, identify the information currently available, clearly define the gaps and articulate a proposed research methodology and plan to deliver on these requirements.
  • Consult with senior stakeholders across the organization and influence key business decisions using consumer insights.
  • Closely manage projects from inception to completion ensuring they remain within scope, budget, and desired timing.
  • Distill market research findings into actionable insights and clearly communicate results across the organization.
  • Partner with stakeholders to guide and review the design of products and experiences for banking customers.
  • Provide high impact and dynamic visualization to bring the customer story to life for the business.
  • Act as the enterprise VoC subject matter expert and proactively serve as a trusted customer advisor to the business.
  • Provide leadership and best practice consultation in the area of market research.
  • Provide insights into the strategic direction using data in alignment with the goals of line of business partners.
  • Develop data solutions addressing the business initiatives and provide leadership on new product or initiative offerings.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in various research and analytical functions to develop the best insights; mentor junior staff.
  • Lead and collaborate with Information Technology and Security in the development, enhancement, and ongoing maintenance of foundational customer data platforms.
