About The Position

The Boat House in Cape Coral is hiring an experienced Marine Technician specializing in marine electrical and boat systems to support our busy service department. This role focuses heavily on diagnosing, repairing, and installing marine electrical systems, onboard systems, and integrated boat components, along with general mechanical service as needed. The ideal candidate has strong electrical troubleshooting skills and a solid understanding of how complete boat systems operate together. To be successful in this role, candidates should have at least three (3) years of relevant experience. We encourage applicants who meet this qualification to apply.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in marine electrical systems and boat systems repair
  • Strong knowledge of marine wiring standards, electrical troubleshooting, and system layout
  • Experience working with battery management systems, charging systems, and marine electronics
  • Ability to independently diagnose complex electrical and system-related issues
  • Comfortable working on multiple boat brands and configurations
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

  • ABYC certification or manufacturer certifications are a plus but not required

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair marine electrical systems, including 12V/24V DC systems, battery banks, charging systems, alternators, starters, and shore power connections
  • Perform electrical diagnostics on navigation electronics, lighting systems, pumps, sensors, switches, and control panels
  • Install and upgrade boat systems such as bilge and livewell systems, freshwater systems, steering systems, trim systems, and electronic accessories
  • Troubleshoot system integration issues where electrical, mechanical, and electronic components interact
  • Perform engine-related electrical diagnostics on outboard and inboard propulsion systems
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer service documentation
  • Perform preventative maintenance, system inspections, and electrical testing
  • Accurately document diagnostics, repairs, and system recommendations
  • Communicate findings clearly with service advisors and team members
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Assist with marina or on-site service calls when required
