About The Position

The MARC Machine Health Lead is responsible for performing visual inspections and diagnostic tests on equipment, managing VIMS data (downloading, analyzing, and managing databases), and utilizing VIMS Toolbox and Mine-Star programs for fleet analysis. This role involves software management, assisting with backlog management, ordering necessary parts, and supporting technicians and crew leads with troubleshooting related to VIMS. The lead will also observe problem equipment, act as a liaison for onsite training and operational complaints, manage oil sample data, and condition monitor all systems. Additionally, the position facilitates shop activities, assists mechanics, performs repairs on various equipment systems (hydraulic, brake, electrical, air, fuel, engines, transmissions, power train), and writes detailed service reports. Further responsibilities include creating job estimates from troubleshooting data, operating mining equipment, and participating in process improvement efforts like Contamination Control and Six Sigma projects.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand English, parts books, service manuals and hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Know the correct procedure for hooking and rigging components and parts for lifting.
  • Mechanical background and the ability to work through difficult projects and situations.
  • MSHA certification.
  • Have and maintain a commercial driver’s license in good standing.
  • Above average interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a positive attitude and spirit of cooperation with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to communicate in an effective, professional manner with oral, written and electronic means.
  • Ability to read and comprehend service literature, demonstrate basic arithmetic and use electronic spreadsheets.
  • Ability to write meaningful and legible service reports.
  • Know and understand the various systems on many equipment types.
  • Use their ability in a productive manner on their daily job assignments.
  • Must have passed the Failure Analysis I and Failure Analysis II classes and demonstrate the ability to analyze and write up a complete failure analysis report.
  • Exposed to mining equipment thru Technical schools or on the job training as a mechanic or mechanics helper at a repair shop or a mine site.
  • Must have held the job classification of Wyoming Machinery Company Field Service Master Mechanic for a minimum of 2 years.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual inspections and diagnostic tests on equipment to locate problems and malfunctions.
  • Manage VIMS data (download, analyze data and manage data bases).
  • View and analyze VIMS using prognostics.
  • Use VIMS Toolbox and Mine-Star programs for fleet analysis.
  • Perform software management by keeping current with software updates.
  • Assist in managing backlogs and keeping supervisors informed of any issues.
  • Order necessary parts for backlogs.
  • Assist technicians and crew leads with troubleshooting and result processing from VIMS.
  • Ride along and observe problem equipment.
  • Work as a liaison with onsite training issues and operational complaints.
  • Manage oil sample data and condition monitor all systems.
  • Manage VIMS Toolbox and Mine-Star systems data.
  • Use VIMS to manage air filter life.
  • Facilitate the working activity within the shop area.
  • Assist mechanics and maintenance personnel with their daily assignments when necessary.
  • Regularly remove, repair and replace components and piece parts on hydraulic, brake, electrical systems, air systems, fuel systems, engines, transmissions and any related power train systems.
  • Write detailed and accurate service reports to include the complaint, cause, any complications and the correction made during the repair.
  • Demonstrate the ability to share any information electronically via e-mail attachments including CAT flash files, VIMS downloads and digital photographs.
  • Review data from the troubleshooting and inspection process to create detailed, accurate and cost-effective job estimates, and accurate parts orders.
  • Operate mining equipment on a regular basis.
  • Participate and support process improvement efforts such as Contamination Control and Six Sigma projects.
