About The Position

Episcopal Day School of St. Matthew seeks an After School Program Teacher for our Early Childhood Mustang Afterschool Program (MAP). This individual will be responsible for assisting in planning and leading activities in the daily operation of the MAP program for grades PK-K in fulfillment of the School’s mission, core values, and educational philosophy. MAP Teachers works closely with the Director of Auxiliary Programs, Lower and Middle School Directors, and the Charles House Site Director to provide engaging, developmentally appropriate, after-school activities for children enrolled in the PK-K program. MAP Teachers report to the Director of Auxiliary Programs and Lower School Director. This is a 10-month position starting at the beginning of the third week of August and finishing at the middle of the third week of June. Hours are from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Requirements

  • Dedicated work ethic; proactive, responsible, reliable, punctual, and attentive to deadlines
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to manage, organize and prioritize work
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • High proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google Suite) accompanied by a willingness to learn new technologies
  • Ability to work independently
  • Flexibility with regard to changes in the academic calendar and schedule
  • Ability to display strong initiative, internal motivation, and a willingness to take on responsibilities beyond those explicitly defined.
  • Associates Degree, High School diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in either teaching or child-care with young children
  • Must have at least 12 Early Childhood Education Units
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively as a team player with colleagues in the faculty and administration
  • Must comply with all state vaccination requirements, including, but not limited to COVID-19 or proof of eligibility for exemption.

Responsibilities

  • Leading Supervising children on the Charles House Campus
  • Communicating with parents regarding program offerings and day-to-day communication
  • Supporting the MAP team, managing the activities and movement of children during MAP operating hours
  • Facilitating Learning Working with MAP team members, staff, faculty, and/or outside vendors to develop and follow planned schedules and activities for the afterschool program
  • Collaborating Working with the Division Directors and other faculty members to ensure consistency in care and routines for the children
  • Working closely with parents and other teaching staff to resolve any issues that may arise in a sensitive and respectful fashion
  • Supporting the school and its leadership
  • Performing other duties as assigned
