About The Position

The Community Health Administrative Assistant provides comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the Community Health Division. This position supports the Chief Community Health Officer and assists community health departments as needed to ensure smooth daily operations, organization, and effective service delivery. The Administrative Assistant plays a key role in maintaining efficiency, communication, and coordination across Community Health programs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • Associates degree preferred with coursework in business administration, healthcare administration, or a related field.
  • One year of experience working in a Community Health or Public Health; prefer tribal health programs.
  • Must be fluent in the Navajo language.
  • Must be able to successfully pass the Employee Health Screen and background investigation.
  • Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing with staff and the general public.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to be detail oriented to ensure accuracy.
  • Ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate courses of action.
  • Ability to coordinate a variety of projects and maintain accurate logs and records for all departmental activities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic community health environment.
  • Ability to speak the Navajo language and/or familiarity with the Navajo Way.
  • Ability to interpret applicable federal, state, county, and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including working in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, presentation software (such as PowerPoint), and PC-based computerized accounting software.
