About The Position

The Shift Leader is responsible for supervising production operations, training personnel, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. This role requires coordination with management, maintenance, and quality control to meet production targets efficiently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience in a production environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency for data entry.
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification and operate warehouse equipment as needed.
  • Strong leadership, training, and supervisory skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to safety and a strong safety record.
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Prolonged exposure to loud noises.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures.
  • Capability to bend, reach, and climb ladders.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to traverse property and facility.
  • Dexterity in hands and feet to operate forklift controls with precision.
  • Required to wear PPE in the plant and complete safety training.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, evaluate, and qualify personnel as mill operators.
  • Manage and train agency employees assigned to the shift, ensuring compliance with all requirements.
  • Create feed sheets and understand recipes for specific production targets.
  • Coordinate personnel and equipment usage to meet production demands.
  • Notify management of production supply needs.
  • Work with maintenance to schedule and coordinate equipment operation and repairs.
  • Ensure all products are tested and qualified in coordination with Quality Control (QC).
  • Notify management of personnel issues and assist in resolutions.
  • Assist personnel and coordinate responses during injury and emergency situations.
  • Authorize and execute lockout/tagout and confined space entry permits.
  • Ensure fire extinguishers and doorways remain unobstructed.
  • Enforce and ensure compliance with all safety procedures, including personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
