About The Position

We are looking for a Unit Manager to Live and drive a “safety always” and “quality first” mindset. Lead, manage, and coordinate all testing and assurance activities for the continuous improvement of quality assurance in tire manufacturing. Control test lab procedures and practices to ensure product quality in the field and timely, efficient throughput, within budget and to standard. You should be highly competent and comprehend complex operations. We also expect you to be able to optimize day-to-day activities while minimizing the costs.

Requirements

  • (Required) bachelor's degree
  • (Preferred) engineering/ technical (chemical, mechanical, electrical, industrial, etc.) degree or business degree
  • (Required) significant (5+ years) related progressive leadership experience with quality assurance in tire manufacturing or other manufacturing intensive companies
  • (Required) good command of written and spoken English
  • Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Engineering and Technology - Demonstrated know-how related to practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
  • Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Quality Control Analysis - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
  • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents
  • Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
  • Monitoring - Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Must be able to frequently move about the manufacturing plant campus, general office environments, production areas, and occasionally ascend/descend stairs
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Must be able to shift between active production floor support and completing administrative tasks in an office setting
  • Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery
  • Must be able to position self to file documents including the top and bottom drawers of file cabinets
  • Must be able to lift and move finished tires weighing up to 25 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Actively support and drive a Safety Always Culture, a 5s workplace, consistent up, down, and across communication and continuous improvement as a way of life
  • Manage human and material resources to meet Hankook and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain existing operating conditions and rapidly identify and implement improvement opportunities
  • Lead, demonstrate, and enforce TP safety protocols, compliance / regulatory requirements, reporting, administration, budgeting, supplier base, customer expectations, etc.
  • Prepare, maintain, and communicate reports relative to achievement of safety, quality, and cost
  • Ensure standard operating procedures and training materials are understood, accessible, & followed
  • Drive quality requirements and standards to ensure compliance
  • Use key performance indicators (KPI’s) as tools to drive continuous improvement
  • Monitor and assess performance of staff and hold staff to operational and leadership expectations; conduct performance appraisals; take immediate actions when underperformance is identified
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
  • Analyze customer requirements, quality policies and procedures, and quality strategy initiatives
  • Establish quality infrastructure and systems; improve the ability/capability of quality response
  • Prepare customer requirement documents
  • Manage TP’s audit response when internal & OE customers visit
  • Issue and point out follow-up items after audit completion
  • Monitor, assess, and improve production quality through inspection
  • Establish OE / RE response process; respond to OEM & RE requirements; develop countermeasures
  • Obtain and maintain the necessary certifications based on market list
  • Manage RE specification approval (X, T, S-Spec) in a timely manner and according to internal standard
  • Review and approve 4M change according to internal standard
  • Manage the tire testing lab to report correct test results
  • Prioritize test scheduling based on business needs; ensure testing is completed timely & accurately
  • Support development testing and timing based on development schedule
  • Coordinate with other teams and perform other testing as requested
  • Manage return process including communication of issues to related manufacturing and inspection personnel
