Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use. Role Purpose This position involves supporting and supervising the Supply Chain Procurement team to optimize the use of equipment, materials, and manpower while providing excellent customer service. The role requires collaboration with regional/global supply chain teams, production, quality, technology, and plant management to plan and execute strategies that deliver high service levels and strong cash flow performance. Responsibilities include participating in monthly S&OP meetings, resolving capacity constraints, and developing inventory management strategies using lean tools to enhance efficiency. The position also includes project work and cross-functional collaboration to improve manufacturing efficiency, supply chain operations, and customer service, while serving as a departmental representative for projects involving Manufacturing Execution Systems and Enterprise Resource Planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Planning or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience interacting across functions (engineering, supply chain, etc) and at all levels of the organization
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software applications (Excel)
  • Experience working within ERP systems

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in business, supply chain, or operations management
  • Minimum 2 years experience in supply chain
  • APICS certification
  • Experience, training or certification Lean and/or Six Sigma/Performance Excellence
  • Prior supervisory and/or project management experience
  • Understanding of Cable Products, Materials and Manufacturing processes

Responsibilities

  • Supervise procurement activities, from requisition to payment for fiber, other raw materials, capital and indirect materials.
  • Accountability for raw material and finished goods inventory goals driven by strategic stocking decisions based on contract, business strategy, or material availability needs
  • Ensure plant meets targeted objectives for all delivery metrics including On-time Performance, Order Cycle Time, and order dating
  • Drive continuous improvements utilizing lean and six sigma supply chain tools (Value stream mapping, Kaizen, DMAIC, etc.)
  • Serve as a business resource for the MES and ERP systems, working in conjunction with system SME positions.
  • Serve on extended product team for FR and RB providing analysis on capacity, inventory and delivery performance
  • Responsible for the development of department personnel through establishing objectives, performance appraisal, feedback and direction that are aligned with business, product and individual development needs.
  • Generate reports and analysis that increase the effectiveness of planning and manufacturing operations.
  • Directly responsible for performing work in a safe manner and maintaining a safe work environment. Is responsible for his/her safety, as well as that of others that may be at the facility, whether working or visiting. Is responsible for observing safe work practices and being proactive for reporting any unsafe conditions.
