Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related technical field
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Creo) and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Coursework or certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Process Optimization
  • Exposure to assembly, welding, and machining operations used in axle and suspension component production, through academic labs, prior internships, or cooperative education programs
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Minitab, MATLAB, or Excel VBA

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, testing, and implementation of process improvements and manufacturing equipment upgrades
  • Collect and analyze production data to identify areas for process optimization and waste reduction
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma principles
  • Create and update manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for quality or performance issues
  • Assist with time studies, tooling evaluations, and equipment layout design in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
  • Collaborate with operations teams to improve equipment reliability and uptime
  • Ensure all project activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
  • Model professionalism and accountability
  • Other duties as necessary
