As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will support engineering and production activities for the Hysitron product line of nanomechanical test instruments. This hands ‑ on role provides exposure to engineering problem ‑ solving, process optimization, and new product introduction (NPI). The intern will assist with engineering tasks, contribute to production-readiness activities, and perform instrument assembly and quality ‑ related tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
  • General PC skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to work in team environment
  • Self-motivated with good time management skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manipulate small parts with tweezers under magnification
  • Minimum a sophomore level, currently enrolled in an accredited technical school or university with a major in nanoscience, electronics or engineering

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering design modifications including ECOs, validation testing, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot instruments, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Contribute to quality control activities including instrument testing and component evaluation.
  • Assist with hands ‑ on assembly of prototypes and production components.
  • Collect and analyze data to support engineering, production, and applications teams.
  • Collaborate professionally with engineers and technicians.
  • Perform additional project ‑ based duties as assigned.
