GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, scaling, and optimizing manufacturing processes for aerospace products including Cartridge Actuated Devices (CAD) and Propellant Actuated Devices (PAD). This role involves working closely with design, quality, and production teams to ensure that manufacturing methods meet precise specifications, withstand certification standards, and maximize efficiency, safety, and quality.

  • Process Development & Design: Develop and validate manufacturing processes for aerospace components, Cartridge Actuated Devices (CAD) and Propellant Actuated Devices (PAD), assemblies, and systems.
  • Design tooling, fixtures, and production equipment to improve efficiency and precision.
  • Apply process improvement methodologies to reduce waste and enhance productivity.
  • Product Quality & Compliance: Ensure manufacturing processes adhere to aerospace industry standards (e.g., AS9100, FAA requirements, etc.).
  • Collaborate with quality teams to develop inspection and testing procedures to support customer requirements and standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues related to quality or process deviations.
  • Design for Manufacturability: Work with product design teams to ensure components are designed for manufacturability and ease of assembly.
  • Provide feedback on design feasibility, manufacturability, and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Process Optimization & Automation: Analyze current manufacturing workflows and implement improvements.
  • Identify, implement and manage automation and new technology adoption in manufacturing.
  • Conduct time studies and process mapping to streamline operations.
  • Documentation & Standards: Create and maintain process documentation, Work Instructions, and SOPs.
  • Ensure all manufacturing activities are well-documented for traceability and certification purposes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, supply chain, safety, and production teams to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
  • Participate in design reviews, feasibility assessments, and production planning.
  • Continuous Improvement & Training: Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase yield, reduce cycle time, and cost.
  • Train manufacturing operators and team members on new processes and equipment.
  • Experience working with aerospace materials such as composites, titanium, aluminum alloys, Cartridge Actuated Devices (CAD) and Propellant Actuated Devices (PAD).
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other process improvement frameworks.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Project management skills for leading process improvement projects.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems related to manufacturing.
  • Effective decision-making and strategic planning skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications: Word, excel, power point, share point.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with management and cross functional team to meet critical deadlines.
  • Experience with compliance documentation and certification processes.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing or a related high-precision manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes such as machining, composite layup, welding, assembly, and NDT, Cartridge Actuated Devices (CAD) and Propellant Actuated Devices (PAD).
  • Familiarity with aerospace standards (e.g., AS9100, NADCAP) and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software, and manufacturing automation tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical mindset.
  • Proven experience in aerospace component development, testing, or systems integration.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace design standards and regulations (e.g., AS9100, FAA, EASA).
  • Strong understanding of defense mil specs for pyrotechnics and energetics design standards and regulations including but not limited to Mil-STD-1316, MIL-STD-2104, MIL-STD-2105, MIL-STD-1630, MIL-DTL-23659.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA, SolidWorks), simulation tools (ANSYS, MATLAB), and test equipment.
