Manufacturing Engineers at RTX develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying products and manufacturing methods. They provide engineering and manufacturing support expertise to ensure on-time, lowest-cost hardware delivery with performance and reliability that exceed customer expectations. This role involves executing across all phases of a program, including proposal capture, process development, transition to production, and production support. Manufacturing Engineers design, control, and improve manufacturing processes and associated documentation/instructions through collaborative efforts with the value stream team, implementing improvements to reduce cycle time and cost, improve productivity, and maintain high levels of safety and product quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM)
  • Experience with CAD modeling tools
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred majors in Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering
  • Technical drawing interpretation, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience/familiarity with Manufacturing/Enterprise Resource Planning (MRP/ERP) tools and systems (ie PRISM/SAP)
  • Experience/familiarity with Manufacturing Shop Floor Management tools and systems (ie cMES)
  • Experience/familiarity with Product Data Management tools and systems (ie Windchill/PDM)
  • Familiarity with military and industry standards
  • Experience with conducting safety/ergonomic assessments
  • Familiarity with standard material handling practices, especially as they pertain to Electrostatic Discharge mitigation requirements
  • Good written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Self-motivated and results oriented individual with an ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude with the ability to work across disciplines
  • Good organizational skills with fine attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Responsibilities

  • Work cross functionally with operations, maintenance, quality, test, and design to implement robust processes.
  • Review and validate recommendations regarding manufacturability of existing and future products and advise modifications or adaptations to address quality, customer, product, or productivity constraints.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement through process improvements to improve cycle time, reduce ergonomic risk to assemblers, automate, reduce costs (both direct and indirect) using CORE principles and data driven decision making
  • Provide real-time technical support to assemblers/operators and inspectors.
  • Participate on corrective action teams and support root cause/corrective action investigations.
