About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting, improving, and monitoring critical batch processes in our pilot manufacturing lab. This role is hands-on, working directly with chemical operators, manufacturing engineers, and development engineers/scientists to help E Ink push new products to market. E Ink’s pilot manufacturing lab’s core objective is to help accelerate development to product launch design cycles. This is a fast pace, rapidly evolving environment with many opportunities to leverage your ideas to continue driving E Ink’s technology forward.

Requirements

  • BS degree in chemical or mechanical engineering with 2 - 10 years of experience OR MS degree in chemical or mechanical engineering with 0 - 7 years of experience
  • Understanding of the complexity of processing hazardous materials, specifically flammable solvents, and chemical reactants
  • High attention to detail with a mechanical aptitude
  • Clear, concise communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment

Nice To Haves

  • Training in chemical processes or manufacturing
  • AutoCAD, P&ID, or automation controls experience or training
  • Ability to understand and write code

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support of the pilot manufacturing lab processes via troubleshooting of equipment and processes using engineering best practices
  • Design, commission, and install new processes and equipment with the objective of transferring robust systems to E Ink’s pilot manufacturing team and trained chemical operators
  • Support development teams by envisioning new processes, addressing key technical risks, and driving safety initiatives to deliver robust processes to chemical operators
  • Monitor performance of materials produced from processes under direct ownership and use statistical process control to identify equipment and process disruptions
  • Provide management with clear, concise reports or other status communications detailing the status of manufacturing processes
  • Collaborate with teams, including Research & Development, Quality, and Operations, to ensure alignment between development goals and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) during all phases of process design and operation
  • Implement and leverage digital tools to enhance process transparency and decision-making across pilot operations
