About The Position

We are growing and adding a Manufacturing Engineer II (2nd Shift) position supporting our product lines in the Melbourne FL facility. In this role, you will make an impact by evaluating and solving everyday manufacturing problems related to design, process, and supplier issues for the manufacture of high-quality electronic assemblies. You will provide technical support to operations in the form of enabling and improving the flow of manufacturing utilizing the LEAN principles. Our ideal candidate will be a curious self-starter with excellent teaming, communication, and relationship building abilities. The candidate will also have a passion for LEAN principles and processes and be eager to contribute to improving efficiency and productivity, and Test Yield. You will make a significant contribution to the developing, verifying, and sustaining assembly and test processes, test equipment, and test procedures that will be used in the manufacturing of new and existing Collins Aerospace products. The 2nd shift (Evenings) 9/80 work schedule is Monday – Thursday 3:30pm – 1am and Friday 2:30pm – 11pm. Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of experience as a manufacturing engineer in Electronics Manufacturing industry with Product Testing focus.
  • Statistics experience (Parametric Process control and versed in implementation).
  • Six sigma control methods exposure/experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in cross-functional team efforts to improve test yields, production throughput, test capacity, and overall product Quality.
  • Identify component test failure trends and perform root cause analysis.
  • Implement corrective actions to resolve.
  • Prepare test failure analysis reports as required for production.
  • Study performance and reliability of existing test equipment and establish programs and solutions for decreasing test equipment downtime.
  • Analyze test approach, plans, and processes for cost reduction, test efficiency, test yields, and manufacturing test capacity opportunities.
  • Provide capacity planning and utilization analysis for accurate staffing and test equipment needs.
  • Identify new test approaches that will minimize production staffing needs and capital requirements.
  • Select and order capital test equipment using sound cost/payback analysis.
  • Generate and track Appropriation Requests.
  • Improve existing test fixtures and equipment needed to improve test performance.
  • Participates in Production Readiness Reviews to determine suitability of new designs for production.
  • Support efforts to conduct Gage R&R efforts on new test solutions to verify consistent product and equipment performance.
  • Drive manufacturing process improvements across multiple assembly process steps
  • Analyze and understand factory needs and requirements.
  • Conduct Process Flow analysis and make improvements.
  • Develop tools that enable manufacturing or increase production rates.
  • Implement Procedure and process improvements based on safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Responsible for providing technical support for entire product test process, board level through top-level test.
  • Support Production Build Operators with immediate needs on Tooling and Processes to meet production schedule.
  • Responsible for Real Time Problem Resolution (RTPR) performance metric related to equipment down time and Test process interruption with focus on maximizing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Develop complete working knowledge of any assigned test systems and hardware.
  • Provide test engineering support during the resolution of manufacturing flow inhibitors (MFIs).
  • Provides technical assistance and support to floor test technicians.
  • Provide technical mentorship to other engineers.
  • Interface with design engineering in coordinating design changes required for sustaining production during the resolution of obsolete part, tolerance, and test yield issues.
  • Work with test technicians to train them on products and test systems.
  • Maintain test documentation for current configuration and oversee accurate change management procedures for all test documents.
  • Identify and address safety concerns.
  • Provide information to management as the status of equipment, manpower, space and other elements affecting manufacturing.
