About The Position

We are searching for a Manufacturing Engineer I to join our team in Maple Grove, Minnesota. The Manufacturing Engineer I will both support and lead initiatives for the daily support of products, processes, materials, and equipment and assist in driving production goals (i.e., safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity) for the Braiding and Molding Technologies (BMT) department. This individual will primarily be focused on braiding processes, however there is potential to work with injection molding peers and processes for future initiatives. This individual will be required to routinely partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate, troubleshoot and improve manufacturing processes within the business unit. The BMT department is a fast-paced manufacturing Business Unit that produces some of the hottest and biggest products at Boston Scientific.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or Biomedical)
  • Minimum of 6 months of related experience
  • Proven understanding of engineering and problem-solving principles, as well as data analysis and production flow tools (i.e. LEAN manufacturing)
  • Ability to develop creative solutions and collaboratively draw ideas from cross-functional teams
  • Initiative to identify, prioritize, communicate and finalize improvement opportunities

Nice To Haves

  • Internship or other applicable experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment (0-3 years)
  • Experience related to quality engineering or quality initiatives focused on improving process or product quality
  • Experience in the medical device industry
  • Experience making decisions quickly, yet logically
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to develop and present ideas via visual communication methods
  • Experience with troubleshooting, analysis, and repair of equipment
  • Proven ability to drive process improvement initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Monitor performance of equipment, machines, and tools to correct equipment problems or identify issues within process that contribute to non-conforming parts, low yields, or product quality issues
  • Perform troubleshooting on new and existing products/process problems as related to design, material, or processes
  • Successfully contribute to business goals and product support, by utilizing tools such as process capability studies, process development, Six Sigma and Value Improvement projects, report preparation and process/test documentation
  • Qualify equipment related to additional capacity needs, new product development, and optimization projects
  • Support and lead overhead cost reduction initiatives and projects
  • Identify, implement, and manage equipment requirements to support production goals.
  • Work cooperatively with R&D, Process Development, Quality, Production, Regulatory, Equipment Engineering, Supply Chain, and Marketing to ensure project success.
