About The Position

This position serves as a crucial liaison between design and manufacturing, focusing on design for manufacturability. The role involves ensuring that production lines are effectively designed and deployed for new products, and supports the validation of product development during initial production runs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrialization, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1+ years of experience with PCB manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of PCBs, electronics, and hardware; ability to read PCB drawings and understand PCB manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to interface effectively with the design team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with leaded components (aerospace/DoD).
  • Familiarity with power electronics.
  • Knowledge of heavy copper layer applications.
  • Experience with medium to high voltage systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy production lines for new products.
  • Support Manufacturing Engineering during initial production runs to validate product development.
  • Participate in design reviews, providing input from an industrialization perspective.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and suppliers to optimize designs for manufacturability and cost.
  • Create initial production work instructions for generators and electrical control/conversion units using available manufacturing processes and tools.
  • Design basic tooling and select optimal assembly methods as needed.
  • Monitor supplier compliance with quality standards and contractual flow-downs.
  • Validate Production Parts Approval Process (PPAP) for delivered hardware.
  • Approve First Article Inspections (FAIs).
  • Troubleshoot production issues impacting delivery schedules, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide industrialization support for process and product improvements.
  • Represent manufacturing in new development programs to ensure manufacturability is considered from the outset.
  • Support improvement initiatives, product transitions, and manufacturing transfers.
  • Assist Supplier Quality during audits to verify work instructions align with drawing requirements.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to establish efficient production process flows.
