The Manual Machinist Tool & Die Maker is responsible for the precision machining, fitting, and assembly of stamping dies from inception to completion, working under the guidance of the tool & die lead and manager. This role requires extensive experience with conventional metalworking machinery, including manual mills, lathes, and surface grinders, to perform operations such as turning, facing, boring, tapping, milling, sawing, and drilling. The position involves creating and building jigs, fixtures, and tools, as well as performing die repairs, scheduled preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting. A strong understanding of blueprints, tolerances, and various material properties is essential, along with advanced troubleshooting skills and an excellent level of detail. The role operates within a machine shop setting and requires adherence to company safety policies, with a willingness to work outside of standard hours as needed.
