Kroll’s Enterprise Security Risk Management practice specializes in helping clients avoid and manage risk to their people, assets, and operations. As threat landscapes evolve, particularly around targeted violence, insider risk, workplace behavioral concerns, reputational risk, and duty of care, clients require sophisticated, structured Threat Management programs grounded in behavioral risk assessment principles. We are seeking a Managing Director – Threat Management to lead and grow this specialized capability globally.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional leadership experience in threat assessment, behavioral risk management, protective intelligence, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated expertise in structured Threat Assessment and Threat Management methodologies (ATAP-aligned or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting organizations through complex or acute threat cases.
  • Proven track record of designing or leading enterprise Threat Management programs.
  • Experience conducting program reviews, audits, or maturity assessments.
  • Strong background in business development and revenue generation.
  • Established professional network within the threat assessment and security community.
  • Deep understanding of workplace violence prevention, insider risk, executive protection, and crisis response integration.
  • Strong executive presence with experience briefing boards and C-suite stakeholders.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness to travel globally.
  • MA/Ph.D. required; advanced degree preferred in psychology, criminal justice, security studies, behavioral sciences, or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Active engagement with ATAP or equivalent professional bodies.
  • Experience in behavioral sciences, law enforcement threat assessment units, protective intelligence, or corporate threat management leadership.
  • Experience designing global programs across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Familiarity with risk intelligence technologies and case management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Build upon Kroll’s Threat Management services offering globally.
  • Drive revenue growth through self-directed business development and collaboration across Kroll business lines.
  • Identify emerging market needs related to targeted violence prevention, insider risk, reputational harm, and workplace behavioral threats.
  • Develop go-to-market strategies, thought leadership, and service frameworks.
  • Represent Kroll in industry forums and professional communities.
  • Serve as senior advisor to clients facing urgent or high-risk threat situations.
  • Provide structured threat assessment guidance and behavioral risk evaluation.
  • Support executive leadership, HR, legal, security, and crisis teams in threat mitigation strategies.
  • Advise on case management protocols and escalation procedures.
  • Coordinate with operational security teams when protective measures are required.
  • Design and implement enterprise Threat Management / Behavioral Threat Assessment programs.
  • Develop policies, governance models, reporting structures, and multidisciplinary team frameworks.
  • Conduct maturity assessments of existing client Threat Management programs.
  • Benchmark against industry standards and best practices.
  • Deliver actionable gap analyses and implementation roadmaps.
  • Provide board-level briefings and executive summaries.
  • Develop structured threat management training curricula for: Executive leadership HR and Legal teams Security professionals Multidisciplinary Threat Assessment Teams
  • Create scalable training offerings for the marketplace (in-person, virtual, and hybrid).
  • Develop certification-aligned training frameworks where applicable.
  • Mentor and develop internal Kroll practitioners in threat management methodologies.
  • Collaborate with other Kroll business lines on cross-functional engagements.
  • Support global Enterprise Security Risk Management initiatives.
  • Contribute to thought leadership publications and client-facing materials.
