Managing Attorney - Construction Litigation

Wyman Legal SolutionsBoca Raton, FL
21h$175,000 - $250,000

About The Position

Wyman Legal Solutions is a niche residential construction law firm built for homeowners. We help people before, during, and after custom home builds and major renovations when projects go sideways on time, money, scope, and quality. We do high-touch advisory, contract drafting, fixed-fee pre-litigation, and selective litigation when it is truly the right move. We are hiring a Managing Attorney because we need a real legal leader inside the work. This role is for someone who can run legal production, keep matters moving, protect client trust, and keep the firm’s case management system accurate enough that leadership can see the truth without chasing it. We need a strong, seasoned litigation attorney who can run files, lead clients, direct the legal team, and drive matters to resolution with urgency, judgment, and control. This is not an “extra hands” role. This is a leadership seat at work. This is the person who makes legal production predictable. If you want autonomy, ownership, and the chance to run the engine, this role will feel like home. You will be successful in this role if you can: Evaluate and control a case early. You identify leverage, risk, and the cleanest path to resolution without letting files drift. Run litigation with foresight and momentum. You move pleadings, discovery, depositions, and motion practice forward on a deliberate timetable. You do not let opposing counsel’s delay tactics become lost months. Handle clients well. Homeowners are emotionally invested and often overwhelmed. You communicate clearly, set expectations, and maintain client confidence even when the news is hard. Negotiate like a litigator. You prepare cases for trial posture, and you use that posture to drive better settlements. Lead the legal team day-to-day. You delegate cleanly, give usable direction, and you hold standards without drama. Operate with discipline. You keep files organized, deadlines protected, and timekeeping reliable. We use a case management platform and standard reporting tools to keep matters visible and moving, and you are expected to work inside that structure.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of Florida construction litigation experience with meaningful responsibility running files end-to-end.
  • 5–7 years of people leadership experience (supervising attorneys and/or paralegals), including delegation, quality control, and performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload while maintaining team oversight and consistent throughput.
  • Meaningful civil litigation experience with real responsibility for cases, not just assignments.
  • Strong writing and advocacy skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills and comfort with conflict.
  • Comfort leading client conversations with emotionally invested clients.
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and maintain professional presence without constant oversight.
  • Technology competence and willingness to operate inside the firm’s case management discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Construction dispute experience, including owner-contractor-subcontractor relationships, defects, payment disputes, and lien issues, preferred.
  • Experience representing homeowners preferred.
  • Experience working in a boutique environment where execution discipline matters.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a construction dispute and litigation caseload from intake through resolution, including pre-suit strategy, negotiation, and litigation when appropriate.
  • Conduct client meetings and provide practical counsel, including strategy, risks, options, and recommended next steps.
  • Draft, revise, and finalize high-impact work product, including demand letters, claims correspondence, pre-suit notices, pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, deposition outlines, mediation statements, and settlement agreements.
  • Lead discovery strategy and execution, including written discovery, third-party records, subpoenas, depositions, and dispute resolution when necessary.
  • Prepare for and attend hearings, mediations, case management conferences, and selective trials (first or second chair depending on matter and staffing).
  • Negotiate with opposing counsel, contractors, insurers, and other stakeholders to drive timely resolution and protect client positioning.
  • Direct and supervise legal support staff as delegated by the Managing Partner, including assigning work, clarifying expectations, and ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met.
  • Maintain organized files and strong documentation so the firm can see what is happening, what is next, and what is at risk.
  • Maintain consistent timekeeping and billing hygiene so there is reliable visibility into work performed and matter economics.
  • Lead weekly litigation case review/production meetings (agenda, priorities, assignments, deadlines, and escalations), and ensure every active matter has an owner, next step, and due date.
  • Supervise and mentor attorneys and paralegals, including delegation, quality control, feedback, and development.
  • Own department execution standards: deadline discipline, communication standards, and timekeeping/billing hygiene.
