Your Role at Baxter As part of Baxter’s Human-Centered Product Design Organization, the Manager, UI/UX leads the design of safe, intuitive, and compliant user experiences for medical devices and digital interfaces. This role ensures designs meet clinical needs, regulatory expectations, human factors engineering standards, and usability requirements. The UI/UX Manager collaborates closely with R&D, Human Factors, Quality, Regulatory, Clinical, and Engineering teams to deliver products that improve patient outcomes and clinician efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in UX, HCI, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Design, or related field.
  • 7+ years of UI/UX experience, including 2–4 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience designing for healthcare, medical devices, or regulated industries.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating complex, high‑stakes UX work.
  • Familiarity with design controls, documentation, traceability, and regulatory expectations (IEC 62366, FDA HF/Usability).
  • Expertise with design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Miro).
  • Strong understanding of usability testing and human factors principles.

Nice To Haves

  • experience with connected medical ecosystems, clinical workflows, Agile/Lean UX, and supporting 510(k)/MDR submissions.

Responsibilities

  • Set UI/UX strategy for digital and physical medical solutions and lead a multidisciplinary design team.
  • Establish regulatory‑aligned design standards and champion user‑centered design across product teams.
  • Oversee creation of wireframes, prototypes, and production‑ready assets, ensuring designs meet safety, usability, and clinical workflow needs.
  • Collaborate with engineering and human factors to ensure feasibility, risk mitigation, and alignment with usability testing requirements.
  • Lead user research with clinicians, patients, and stakeholders; translate insights into design improvements.
  • Partner cross‑functionally to define user needs, communicate design decisions, and support usability risk assessments.
  • Ensure high‑quality, consistent UI/UX deliverables and manage timelines through development, V&V, and post‑market improvement cycles.
